The S on the Lilly with a strongly recommended stop after it!
Whit water in Mada is just as fun as everything else in Mada.
Life seems to be concentrated around rivers and encounters
great minutes of human adventures.
Our newly created structure Les
Crocos de Tana will probably give
you more details on the local possibilities.
1)On the western side, rain season means major floods and
rivers take up to 10 meters from Jan to March.
i don't think I would recommend it to any friends, ...
2)On the eastern side, the forest does temper the rains
and floods are exceptionnal and never as sudden and brutal
as on the deforested western side. Unfortunately,
it does rain quite a bit and do imply rainy bivvys!
3) Under 1000m you should expect to float with crocs on
most of the rivers. Well they have been heavily hunted
and are particularly shy. They love to hang out around
rapids and are very sedentary. If you have doubts about
swimming around, ask to the locals; they will know.
Although we watched some in small rapids (Class I-II)
they usually stay away and never attacked the rafts.

Apparently some germans were detered from the manambolo river
when crocs attacked their kayaks!!!!
Logistics are usually the main problem for setting some kind of
expedition but I can say that we have a good experience of it.
