NOSY
HARA
CLIMBING

Michel above camp. |
You understood that this is limestone country!
The archepelago is a part of the immense karst spreading
from northern tip
to southernmost extremity, all along the west coast. The
most striking features being
the world famous tsingy reserves of Ankarana and Bemaraha.
Heath, dust, poison ivys and administration deterred us from
the Tsingy reserves but
the Nosy Hara archepelago offered the best conditions we
could have dreamed of, ... |
Sunset on Andantsara western sea cliffs
Wind blows steady 7 to 8 months a year and maintain a very pleasant
temperature. All sectors have at least half a day of shade and climbing
there keeps your hands really
dry, the holds are clean and you're left with extremely gestual
gymnastics on the best
rock of its kind, carved by winds and rains.
This is a country
of beautifully overhanging reddish walls, of huge concretions,
of grey knife blades lacerating sky, clouds
and fingers, all of it right over the mozambique channel
most spectacular beaches. |

M. Piola. Nosy Andantsara. |
Sunny beach and shaded lines on Anjombavola.
Close to a hundred routes are available on the archepelago; level
is human! Nothing too severe for mutants (at least, not yet).
Acces to the sites according to tides, sun and YOU

Michel
opening a new line on Andantsara western cliffs.
Over the years, the Piola-Robert team has spent a
lot of energy in developing the sector and setting strict standards.
Amateurs of a more natural style can show up with a good
set of nuts, friends, hooks and slings, the cliffs are sculpted
for the trade!
There are many possibilities to prospect new sectors.
