LA MONTAGNE DES FRANCAIS

The local cliffs of Montagne des Francais are an other climber's dream.

A few miles away from the city, 45' of a pleasant walk lead to more than a hundred routes fully equiped at modern standards.

The potential for new routes is huge as miles of grey and red walls remain virtually untouched. The view on the bay from the top is unique.

Lemurs hang out around but stick to the trails as the forest has local poison ivy and scores of small, but definitely agressive wasps.

The proximity of Diego ease logistics and any climber can climb there by himself. The topos being published it will even be easier for visitors.

Best climbing season is from may to October, rest of the year being possibly a bit stuffy and early after rains, the forest is infested by zillions of hungry mosquitoes.

Although there are no physical agressions it is wise not to let bags and gear unattended while climbing; the spot is really close from Diego.
