PLANT A FOREST WITH US!
THE TREE NURSERY
After the 2004 problems, I had decided to launch my
first nursery for the 2005 season. There was no real option if
I really wanted to plant thousand of trees yearly.
 The
first nursery, shaded by tall forest trees.
It wasn't really my vocation but I did enjoyed it and it
permitted me to accomplish my 2005 program. A bit short on
some trees I had ordered outside but a good season overall
(over 6000 trees and 360 fruit trees). As I have a rather
heavy program for 2006 (10,000 trees minimum), I dugged out
a large terrace for an other 5000 plants nursery

Preparation of soil, a mixture of zebu dung, rice straw compost,
straw and sand
Of course I keep the original one, conviniently shaded and protected from
strong winds. I turned it into a nursery for forest trees, fruits, and ornementation;
In winter I collect in the nearby forests, young seedlings, branches, and I
transfer them to the nursery till rain season. The vigor of those young plants
is impressive and with a little special care (sun shade, straw on ground, light
watering) the ratio of pick up is close to 100%.
A 15 month palissander, well suited to the terrain.
A good nursery should be the base of any serious reforestation project. It
is essential and turns out rather economic to run.
Association Crotalia and Flamboyant; shade for the seedling and minerals to
help it grow.
The Crotalia is cut down after 2 seasons.
